Might be an unpopular opinion but Alex Morgan isn’t on the field to score all the goals. Yeah, I know she’s a forward but her best role, for about the last 5-6 years, is to pull defenders out of position and open up and create chances for others. She’s probably the best on the team at this.

Smiths 1st goal vs Vietnam was a good goal, but it was an excellent pass by Morgan. Imo Alex should be starter. Better target. Better passer. Better in the air. Stronger on the ball. Plays D. It doesn't seem like Smith and Rodman run as well off the ball. It's predictably mostly straight ahead cuz they gotz wheels ya know.

Alex went through the same thing in 2011 with World Cup final loss and she was a better person after that and propel the US program to new heights. It’s now time for the young group to make that impact.

She's played in 4 World Cups (25 matches) and has 9 goals, but 5 of those came in the 13-0 win vs Thailand in 2019. Take away that game and she has 4 goals in 24 matches.
