State Department spokeswoman Tammy Bruce learned from a reporter that her boss, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, got an additional job on Thursday. President Donald Trump announced minutes earlier that Rubio would replace Mike Waltz as national security adviser while staying on at the State Department.

The Republican president said Waltz would instead be nominated to serve as the US’s ambassador to the United Nations.
