Spurs guard Stephon Castle and Heat center Kel'el Ware have been named the NBA Western and Eastern Conference Rookies of the Month for January.

The 20-year-old Castle is the second Spurs player in as many seasons to claim a Rookie of the Month nod, joining Victor Wembanyama last season. Wembanyama won it three times last season en route to being named Rookie of the Year.

Stephon Castle isn't the runaway frontrunner to win Rookie of the Year like Victor Wembanyama was last year, but he is putting together a solid rookie season. On Monday, as the San Antonio Spurs lost to the Memphis Grizzlies, Castle poured in 21 points and added six rebounds and five assists for good measure.

Castle played in 12 games in January, averaging a rookie-best 14.9 points, 3.6 assists and 3.1 rebounds in 27 minutes per game.
