Jacob Ramsey says he has lived his "dream" being able to play for Aston Villa after leaving the club to join Newcastle. The 24-year-old posted an emotional farewell to his boyhood and fans on social media after completing a £40m move to St James' Park over the weekend.

The clubs had agreed an upfront fee of £39million ($52.8m) along with a further £5m in harder to achieve add-ons for the central midfielder.

Newcastle United have completed the signing of midfielder Jacob Ramsey from Aston Villa, the club has announced. Ramsey -- who came through Villa's academy and had been at the club since the age of six -- becomes Newcastle's third signing in a window where they have been the centre of one of the transfer sagas of the summer.
