President Trump again singled out Chicago while announcing that he is deploying the National Guard in Washington, D.C. alongside a federal takeover of policing there. Trump announced these moves Monday at a news conference,

(The Center Square) – President Donald Trump says Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker is incompetent, that he may send the national guard into Chicago and will work to reverse the end of cash bail. In announcing federal law enforcement actions in Washington D.C. Monday, Trump said he may send the National Guard to keep the peace in places with heavy crime.

Gov. JB Pritzker said he "can't rule anything out" when asked about a possible run for the presidency in 2028.
