Netflix has ordered a Little House on the Prairie series, 40-plus years after a long-running adaptation of Laura Ingalls Wilder’s beloved books aired its last episode on NBC. The new version comes from showrunner Rebecca Sonnenshine ( The Boys, The Vampire Diaries ).

News of the reboot comes days after Nielsen’s streaming report for 2024, which revealed that the original Little House is one of the most popular “legacy titles” on streaming, logging over 13 billion viewing minutes on Peacock. For Netflix, a Little House reboot will be like striking gold. Ballerina Farm must be shaking in her egg apron.

In what kinda feels like a play to the “TV and movies have gotten too sexy” crowd, Netflix is moving forward with a Little House on the Prairie reboot from executive producer / showrunner Rebecca Sonnenshine (The Boys) that the streamer describes as “a kaleidoscopic view of the struggles and triumphs of those who shaped the frontier.

Netflix is adding a bunch of great movies to its library in February 2025, including Sonic the Hedgehog 2 and Kinda Pregnant.

A lot of great stuff is leaving this month for U.S. subscribers, including a favorite action-movie franchise and two excellent recent sitcoms.
