Atlanta United has smashed the MLS transfer record by signing striker Emmanuel Latte Lath from Middlesbrough. The Five Stripes paid a reported $22 million plus add-ons to sign Latte Lath, breaking the record set in November when FC Cincinnati signed Kévin Denkey from Cercle Brugge for a reported $16.2 million.

Atlanta United have signed Middlesbrough striker Emmanuel Latte Lath for a new MLS record fee of $22 million (£17.6 million) plus add-ons. The move easily surpasses the $16.2 million FC Cincinnati paid to sign Kevin Denkey earlier this winter.
