Hogg, who has levied harsh criticism over elderly Democrats' refusals to step down from their posts, will continue supporting primaries against senior members.

Hogg announced that he would not fight to hold on to his leadership role in the Democratic National Committee.

As vice chairman of the party, Hogg had promised to spend millions to unseat sitting Democratic lawmakers and install young liberals.
