The Ravens placed a right-of-first-refusal tender on safety Ar’Darius Washington on Wednesday, the first day of the new NFL year. At $3.3 million, it is worth less than the second-round tender of $5.3 million.

Per the league, the Ravens gave S Ar'Darius Washington the $3.263 million Right of First Refusal Tender. It means that if Washington signs an offer sheet with another team, the Ravens would have a chance to match it. If they don't, they'd lose Washington for no compensation.

The Ravens took steps to retain defensive back Ar'Darius Washington, extending the exclusive rights tender to the free agent. With the low tender, the Ravens would receive no compensation for Washington if another team signs him to an offer sheet and Baltimore declines to match.

The Baltimore Ravens officially placed a right of first refusal tender on restricted free agent S Ar’Darius Washington. The Ravens also did not tender contracts to restricted free agent DB Christian Matthew or exclusive rights free agent RB Owen Wright.

Entering free agency, safety Ar’Darius Washington had completed the final year of his contract with the team. But rather than being an unrestricted free agent able to sign wherever he’s offered, Washington was a restricted free agent.
