Trump linked Canada's support for Palestinian statehood, India's purchase of Russian oil and Brazil's prosecution of its former president to tariffs.

Trump has justified tariffs on goods from Canada, the top U.S. export market, by accusing it of failing to stop the cross-border flow of fentanyl, even though U.S. government data shows Canada accounts for only 1% of the fentanyl that enters the United States.

The Trump administration said new tariff rates on most U.S. trading partners will go into effect on Aug. 7. Experts believe the fees will also be felt at home. John Lawrence explains.
