KC Sawyer founded the Rashida Sawyer Bakery, named after his mother, Loraine Rashida Sawyer ’72, the first Black woman to graduate from Cornell’s School of Hotel Administration.

During his 25 years in prison, Lucas Whaley found renewed purpose as a student, earning 247 credits and a degree through the Cornell Prison Education Program.

Cornell is suing the NIH over planned cuts to research funding that could cost the University more than $80 million annually, threatening vital research and innovation.
