New observations suggest that a "city-killer" asteroid has a slightly higher chance of hitting the Moon than our planet.

The asteroid, about the size of a 10-story building, has a 4.3% chance of lunar impact, according to NASA's James Webb Space Telescope observations. While a moon impact wouldn't significantly alter its orbit, the asteroid was previously considered a "city killer" due to its potential for localized devastation on Earth.

After months of tracking and refining Asteroid 2024 YR4's orbit, NASA scientists were able to rule out an Earth strike. There's no real risk to the planet in seven years or afterward, according to the agency. Now the space rock’s only potential target is the moon.
