Thousands of firefighters have been battling wildfires across 45 square miles of densely populated Los Angeles County. The two largest fires, the Palisades Fire in Pacific Palisades and the Eaton Fire near Pasadena, remain active. One of the latest, the Hughes Fire in the Castaic area, has prompted evacuation orders for tens of thousands of people.

Southern California Edison has reported a Jan. 7 fault on a power line that was connected miles away from the lines located near the origin of the deadly Eaton Fire that sparked that day.

A law firm suing Southern California Edison released an edited video that it says appears show the start of the deadly Eaton Fire in Altadena.

Fires across the Los Angeles area have killed at least 25 people. The Palisades and Eaton fires continue to burn in Southern California.

Three active fires in Los Angeles neared full containment Sunday, as the region receives much-needed rain that has produced flood and mudslide warnings lasting through Monday. Saturday, 4:00 p.m. PST Cal Fire data marked the Palisades Fire at 87% containment, the Eaton Fire at 95% containment and the Hughes Fire at 92% containment.

The typical American renting a single-family house pays $2,357 monthly – nearly half of what’s charged across Southern California. Last year, landlords across the U.S. could only get a $19 a month rent hike, or 0.8%.

After 16 days in Southern California, the Redding Fire Department has returned to the Northstate. The team was deployed to the Eaton Fire in Pasadena.

The Palisades Fire, which started on Jan. 7, has burned 23,713 acres and has destroyed 5,828 structures, including homes and businesses, according to an update from Cal Fire on Monday. At least 10 fire-related deaths have been reported in the Palisades Fire.

Mauricio Arellano, superintendent of the San Bernardino City Unified School District, which co-sponsored the Wednesday, Jan. 22, event, told the crowd of about 50 that all children in the U.S. have a right to a free public education — regardless of immigration status.

Los Angeles Fire Chief Kristin Crowley said that the fire department has deployed all available resources and positioned fire patrols and engines in high-risk areas across Los Angeles.

Shares of Edison International's ( EIX, Financials) subsidiary, Southern California Edison Company, fell by 1.9% on Monday to $57.74 at 1:14 p.m. GMT-5 following the company's detailed report to the California Public Utilities Commission regarding the Eaton Fire that erupted near Eaton Canyon in Altadena on Jan. 7.

Josh Altman, formerly of “Million Dollar Listing Los Angeles,” went viral after he predicted that up to 70% of residents in the Pacific Palisades would not return following the fires.
