Iowa State alum and Indiana Pacers star Tyrese Haliburton commented on how fans are watching and analyzing the game. “The way the game is digested by the fans sometimes. I think it’s a lot of boxscore watchers,
OKLAHOMA CITY — Tyrese Haliburton hasn’t just powered the Indiana Pacers to their first NBA Finals appearance in 25 years. He has inspired a gold rush with his clutch shooting.
Tyrese Haliburton's heroics in the NBA playoffs has renewed a debate among researchers about whether "clutch'' play really exists.
Indiana Pacers legend Reggie Miller had his fair share of clutch moments. So it's no surprise he can appreciate Tyrese Haliburton's game-winning shot against the Oklahoma City Thunder in Game 1 of the NBA Finals. Miller shared a video of him and his family reacting to Haliburton's shot. Like many fans, Miller was ecstatic.
Tyrese Haliburton has done it again. For the fourth consecutive playoff round, the Indiana Pacers guard has completed an unbelievable comeback with a game-tying or, in this case, game-winning shot. In Game 1 of the NBA Finals,
“He’s just a great player and has showed up for us since he’s gotten here,” said Haliburton’s backup, T.J. McConnell, “but has really taken (it) to another level in these playoffs, especially toward the end of the game. He’s just an incredible player who loves having the ball in his hands in those moments and has continued to show up.”
The difference on the final scoreboard was one point, and the difference on this first installment of the Finals MVP Ladder is one spot, separating the player who made the shot and the one who missed — Tyrese Haliburton and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander.
The thing is, Haliburton's greatness is impossible to ignore. It's flashy and gaudy and has come in the form of four buzzer-beaters or go-ahead shots in the final five seconds of the fourth quarter or in overtime this postseason. (He has five in his career.)
