Oregon Secretary of State Tobias Read yanks controversial cannabis audit
Secretary of State Tobias Read on Wednesday announced that he has withdrawn an Oregon Liquor and Cannabis Commission audit associated with the scandal that ended a predecessor’s political career. He said he made the decision in the interest of protecting the integrity of the state audits division.

The audit led to Fagan's resignation in May 2023. Fagan had a $10,000-a-month contract as a consultant for La Mota, a cannabis company, at the same time the Secretary of State's Office was auditing the Oregon Liquor and Cannabis Commission. Willamette Week first reported on the contract.
