Charges were dropped against former members of a Houston police narcotics squad accused of taking part in an overtime scheme to steal up to hundreds of thousands of dollars from HPD. Dismissal motions were filed by prosecutors for engaging in organized crime cases against eight former Squad 15 officers who previously worked with Gerald Goines,
Harding Street raid update: Harris County DA's Office says it dismissed 17 charges against 8 HPD officers
"Nothing about these dismissals changes the fact that the Harding Street raid should have never happened," Harris County DA Sean Teare said, in part.
Charges against 8 HPD officers in botched Harding Street raid dropped, DA says
Gerald Goines was convicted of murder in October in the deadly raid in 2019 on Harding Street. He was sentenced to 60 years for the murders of Dennis Tuttle and Rhogena Nicholas. The couple were shot along with their dog after officers burst into their home using a “no-knock” warrant that didn’t require them to announce themselves before entering.
