The Supreme Court will hear arguments Thursday about President Donald Trump’s plan to end birthright citizenship and significantly limit the power of federal courts to slow his agenda – a case that has been rushed onto the high court’s docket less than four months after he returned to the White House.
The Trump administration asked the justices to narrow or limit a nationwide injunction that stopped its birthright citizenship ban while litigation continues.
Norman Wong, whose great-grandfather brought the landmark case that enshrined birthright citizenship, says the new fight over the issue is "for the soul of our country."
On Thursday, the U.S. Supreme Court will hear arguments regarding three preliminary injunctions against a January 20 executive order that purported to eliminate birthright citizenship except for children of U.S. citizens or lawful permanent residents.
