The cockpit and tail of an American Airlines regional plane were recovered Tuesday as crews continued pulling pieces of the wreckage from the Potomac River following last week's deadly midair collision over Washington,

Officials said the bodies of several victims remain in the plane's fuselage and their "dignified" removal is a main priority.

Every victim involved in the American Airlines commercial plane collision with a military helicopter last week has been recovered. Officials announced Tuesday that the remains of 67 people — 64 from the plane and three from the helicopter — have been recovered.
