Authorities are investigating an explosion that left a woman with life-threatening burns in eastern Kentucky. According to Kentucky State Police, the East Bernstadt Fire Department responded to a home explosion Wednesday afternoon.

According to Kentucky State Police, the woman sustained severe burns, which covered approximately 80% of her body.

Portions of the roof and multiple windows were blown out of the small home. The cause of the explosion is not known at this time.

The East Bernstadt Fire and Rescue reports that one person was severely injured in a home explosion. According to officials, the person was transported by ambulance to Saint Joseph Health in London. Kentucky State Police are helping in the investigation.
