Flash flooding caused by torrential rains on Saturday turned deadly in northern West Virginia. Officials said up to 4 inches of rain fell within about half an hour.

The death toll continues to rise in West Virginia after a historic flash flood. West Virginia Gov. Patrick Morrisey confirmed that the death toll from the flash flood has risen to eight. Morrisey said that he was told about the death before his media briefing.

The 7th death was reported to be 71-year-old from Moundsville, whose body was found in Wetzel County Monday evening.
