ARLINGTON — Texas Rangers third baseman Josh Jung was given a “mental day” and did not play Sunday’s series finale vs. the Chicago White Sox at Globe Life Field.
ARLINGTON, Texas — Texas Rangers rookie Kumar Rocker kept a scoreless start intact by working through an eventful fifth inning that included downing three small bottles of pickle juice, the last of which resulted in a mound visit charged to a ball boy.
With the three shutout innings against the White Sox, Armstrong lowered his ERA as a starter to 1.04 (four earned runs in 34.2 innings). That’s the lowest starter ERA (minimum of 17 starts) for any pitcher in Major League Baseball’s Live Ball Era, which began in 1920.
The Cleveland Browns star threw the ceremonial first pitch to his father, Lawrence, ahead of Sunday’s Rangers-White Sox series finale. Garrett, an Arlington native, seemed to place his pitch well, but his dad couldn’t come up with the catch.
