John Mulaney may have spoken best to the mostly wonderful randomness of the lineup for Friday night’s live “SNL50: The Homecoming Concert” special when, late in the show, he invoked the memory of “Saturday Night Live’s” much-missed music guru,

"SNL50: The Homecoming Concert" romped at Radio City Music Hall Friday. Inside the musical bash featuring Cher, Lady Gaga, Nirvana and many more.

On the concert stream, Martin Short and Meryl Streep could be seen seated alongside one another. Paul Rudd, Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgwick were also on camera. Donna Langley, the exec who recently expanded her role to chairman of NBCUniversal Entertainment and Studios, was also among the crowd.

“SNL50: The Homecoming Concert” will bring together some of the biggest names in music past and present, most of whom are notable “SNL” musical guests. Cher, Dave Grohl, Jack White, Lady Gaga, and Snoop Dogg are among tonight’s performers.

Live" is known for making audiences laugh for the past 50 years, but it is not complete without the iconic live music performances that have cemented their own place in pop culture.
