The England Cricket Board (ECB) on Wednesday announced their playing eleven for the upcoming first ODI match of the series against India at the Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium in Nagpur.  The first match of the ODI series between the Men in Blue and the Three Lions will be played on Thursday at 1:30 PM.

The T20I assignment is done and dusted and had a relevance in itself but the upcoming ODI series can't be looked at in isolation, with an ICC event breathing down its neck. Hence, both India and England would be looking to fine-tune their preparations in these three matches,

Top England batter Joe Root made a return to the ODI squad for the first time since 2023. The 34-year-old's presence in the playing eleven will strengthen the visitors' batting lineup. Phil Salt will keep the wicket for the Three Lions in the upcoming ODI match. Salt will also open along with Ben Duckett.

Joe Root will feature in an ODI match for the first time since the 2023 World Cup. The former captain will bat at No. 3 for England in the series opener in Nagpur on Thursday.

Varun Chakravarthy picked up 14 wickets in the five-match T20I series against England, including a five-wicket haul in Rajkot. He was also the player of the series for his stellar bowling performance.
