Less than a week after the fatal fire at Gabriel House in Fall River, the family of a resident has retained the legal services of Morgan & Morgan, the law firm announced in a press release. In initial reports, nine people were killed and more than 30 hospitalized as a result of the July 13 fire.
There’s no doubt in my mind that that fire was destined to kill 50-plus people,” Fall River Fire Chief Jeffrey Bacon said Wednesday.
The Bristol County DA reported the update Friday saying, "it was due to a miscommunication with a medical agency."
The Bristol District Attorney's Office corrected the report of the 10th victim's death in the Gabriel House fire on Friday, citing a miscommunication.
The one-page inspection report released Thursday morning showed the Gabriel House also had an adequate number of fire extinguishers, along with alarms for heat, smoke, and carbon monoxide. The inspection noted the facility had generally good housekeeping, with nothing blocking exits or stairways.
