The Trump administration said Tuesday it is offering incentives for nearly all civilian federal workers to resign and warned of plans to shrink the size of the government.

President Donald Trump is offering buyouts with eight months of pay to all federal workers who don't wish to return to the office.

Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer called the firings a “chilling purge,” while GOP Sen. Lindsey Graham, a top Trump ally, acknowledged that the firings may have violated the law but said: “Just tell them you need to follow the law next time.”
