The Raiders and Chip Kelly made it official on Tuesday. Word came on Sunday that the Raiders would hire Kelly as their offensive coordinator and the team announced the move on Tuesday afternoon. Kelly joins Pete Carroll’s staff years after they matched up as head coaches on both the collegiate and professional level.

After winning at Ohio State, Chip Kelly has returned to the NFL as Pete Carroll’s offensive coordinator with the Las Vegas Raiders. Kelly was considered an early target for the Jaguars and Texans positions.

Kelly was Ohio State coach Ryan Day’s mentor as fellow Manchester, New Hampshire, natives. Kelly did not immediately return a request for comment from The Dispatch.
