Zach Cregger's horror movie "Weapons" is leading the weekend box office, as Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis' "Freakier Friday" makes a strong debut.

The acclaimed horror pic and the female-fueled 'Freaky Friday' sequel are expected to end up in a close race for No.1 at the weekend box office.

Horror movie Weapons is killing it at the box office, and is on course for a $40 million (£30 million) opening weekend. The film stars Alden Ehrenreich as a cop whose town is rocked by the disappearance of 17 children.
