Despite trying to trade for high-end players, the Boston Red Sox did not make their big league outfielders available.

Boston is five games behind first place in the AL East and were surging right before the All-Star break following a trade that sent its slugger Rafael Devers to San Francisco. Instead of going all-in at the deadline, the team made minor moves, including bringing in often-injured starting pitcher, Dustin May, from the Dodgers.

The Los Angeles Dodgers may not have made a blockbuster deal to acquire a superstar outfielder or Cy Young winner at the trade deadline. However, Los Angeles continues to finesse their way into winning.
